Youth Poets Are Taking the Stage at the Liberty Theatre
Columbus, GA, January 31, 2012 – The Fountain City Teen Poetry Slam got off to an exciting start on January 24th at The Liberty Theatre Cultural Center. Young poets from across the valley area took the spotlight as they competed to represent the city at Brave New Voices 2013 this summer in Chicago. Convening the top young poets and spoken word artists from across the United States and internationally, Brave New Voices 2013 will feature a diverse group of young writers, trendsetters and community and cultural leaders, as well as world-class workshops led by renowned poets and artists.
The local poets advancing to the April 25th finals are:
1st Place- Genario Johnson, Carver High School, alumni
2nd Place- Khrystopher Mason, Academic Success Center, senior
Honorable Mention- Jeremiah Russ, Columbus Tech, freshman
