Columbus, GA – Professional baseball player Edwin Jackson came back home and he did so much to help others. He participated in a baseball camp at Fort Benning, Ga. He made a public appearance at a press conference and luncheon at After Five Sports Bar. He appeared on The Dee Armstrong TV show-TV 38-NBC television affiliate/hostess- Ms. Dee Armstrong, with several other baseball greats who were in the city around the same time. And he presented Food Baskets to families at the Warren Williams Apartments meeting room with the encouragement of the Columbus Housing Authority and the Literacy Alliance (who gave away new books to the children). Of course, with someone so famous as Mr. Edwin Jackson, the news media came out and former football pro-player and show host, Mr. D. J. Jones. The activity at Warren Williams Apartments was called the Edwin Jackson event. Mr. Jackson has set a precedent for other professional athletes. We, at The Columbus Times Newspaper, commend him for his generosity.
