Annual Breakfast Honors Women of Courage in Medicine
Columbus, GA – In the crisp early dawn morning of March the 5th, hundreds of courageous souls gathered at Columbus Convention and Trade Center for the Annual Rosa Parks Women of Courage Breakfast. Four local women in medicine were honored during. The women are all successful doctors whose contributions have made a significant impact in their communities and on the city as well. This year’s guest speaker is Dr. Valeries Montgomery Rice, the Dean and Executive Vice President of Morehouse School of Medicine. The honorees this year were: Dr. Kathryn K. Cheek, Rivertown Pediatrics, President Georgia Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics Dr. Beverley Townsend, Director of West Central Health District Dr. Shemal B. Scott, Emanuel Health Clinic, P.C. Dr. Karen Stuart, OB-GYN practicing gynecology only at WomenCare of Columbus The breakfast is an annual event sponsored by SISTERS, Inc., a charity outreach effort of Gamma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
