Community Helpers Inspire Children

By Times Staff Writer Columbus, GA – Community Helpers is a project started by Netta’s Little Treasures Learning Center to acquaint the children with the various careers for which they can aspire. One Community Helper, who is well- known Ms. Dee Armstrong, The Dee Armstrong Show/WLTZ-TV 38/NBC television affiliate. Ms. Armstrong is no stranger to the community to those who see her on television. On her visit to Netta’s Little Treasures Learning Center, Ms. Armstrong read to the students as well as shared some of the information about what her job is like and what it takes to succeed. Ms. Armstrong began her media career in the city, moved on to Atlanta, GA and returned to the city to become the hostess of her own television program. Ms. Armstrong is also an accomplished writer and singer. She has worked with such media firms as WTVM-TV9, WDAK Radio Station and The Columbus Times Newspaper. Her reading was very animated to the group of children, ages two to four, who watched her, listened and repeated some of the expressions she wanted them to know. She was graciously thanked for taking time from her busy schedule to read to the children.
